Our 4th graders have had a busy calendar lately! Mr. Andrejkovics and his class have been out and about in our community stocking fish and learning about the world around them. A big part of those lessons are appreciating the importance of a close-knit community filled with rich resources for cultural, civic and educational opportunities.
Even with some inclement weather on the horizon, our 4th grade learners were eager to get on the dock at the Trout Lake Club. Avery Fish Hatchery appreciated their enthusiasm as they all worked together to release 1,000 10 -12-inch rainbow trout into Trout Lake. Town of Bolton Supervisor Ron Conover joined our students for this yearly event. We are very fortunate to be part of the Town of Bolton who includes our students in this exciting kick-off event for warmer weather!
Next, our students made some great memories on Lake George. It was an exciting day! Students started their adventure by learning about boating safety. The rest of the trip was filled with local and Lake George history! Mr. Ted Caldwell and Mr. John Gaddy were both on hand to share their knowledge and experience. Once again, some weather blew in and our mariners found safe harbor with good friends on one of our many beautiful Lake George islands. Thank you to Mr. Caldwell and Mr. Gaddy for sharing your time and wisdom with our student beautiful islands along the way. A big thank you to Chic’s Marina for providing two pontoon boats for this exploration and donating the boat time and gas! We are so fortunate to live in a community that supports our students in this way and sets the example of how helpful it is in developing a sense of identity and responsibility.
