Our fourth and fifth grade students were fortunate to be presented with a Bike Rodeo generously provided by Cornell Cooperative Extension- Warren County. This is a great program that helps educate Bolton Central School students on the rules for safe biking and scootering.

Safety Dan Carusone, 4-H Community Educator, set up a bike course with mock railroad crossings, crosswalks, stop signs, lane changes and other various hazards. Students were able to navigate the various traffic conditions and were properly instructed on how to do the various hand signals for stopping and turning. Knowing how to safety navigate the course helped our students build confidence and be aware of the safe decisions when riding.

Safety Dan also set up a station to check student bicycles. Things like tire quality, air pressure, chain tightness, break adjustment, and even gearing all contribute to a safe ride.

Students had the opportunity to run through the course several times and practice their bicycling skills with the guidance of Bolton Police Chief Galante and our teachers that were on hand to help; Mr. Andrejkovics and Mr. Volkmann.

Thank you to for helping to keep our students safe!
