Safety Reminders for Bolton Students!

Safety Reminders for Bolton Students!

Recently, Bolton elementary students shared some time with Katie Boyle, Warren County Public Health Educator.  Over the course of an hour, groups of students were presented with age-appropriate information on how to stay safe and discussed some of the rules of personal safety.

The presentations Ms. Boyle shared highlighted two messages.

The concept of “stranger” may be difficult for some students. Many believe that strangers are mean, ugly people — so the nice man asking for help to find his lost puppy? Some may not think that’s a stranger. Students should also elarn that some strangers – like store clerks, police officers, or parents with children – can be helpful when they are in need. It may be hard for kids to understand the difference between strangers.

The other presentation discussed ways to be safer online with the goal of helping students to become more aware of potential online risks and empowering them to help prevent victimization by making safer choices on- and offline.

After each presentation Ms. Boyle addressed any questions from students, many of which led to helpful and informative further discussions.

Thank you, Warren County Public Health, for providing an engaging program to help support the well-being of our students!
